- What's Thumb?
-
Thumb is a tool for giving and receiving opinions and advice in realtime.
It's a community of people waiting to give you their opinion at the tip of your fingers. It's the last line of defense in your battle against buying ugly clothes. It's the critic when you can't decide which movie to watch. It's the mirror when you're not sure if you like your new haircut. It's the DJ when you need a good slow song for your mix. It's the caterer when you're not sure what to serve on game day: nachos or pizza. It's the genius when you're wondering which tablet to buy.
You get the idea. Jump in; help people navigate life.
- What platforms are available?
-
Thumb is a free app for all iPhone and Android devices. You can also use Thumb at thumb.it/vote.
- How old do I have to be to use Thumb?
-
Gotta be 13 or older.
- Does it cost me anything?
-
We think good opinions and advice are priceless... lucky for you, Thumb is completely free.
- I have some feedback, where should I send it?
-
We couldn't be all about opinions and advice if we didn't want yours. We love hearing good ideas and ways to better your experience. Give us a shout.
- Why was my question disabled?
-
Well, a better question might be "Did you post a clean question seeking real opinions and advice?” If you can answer "YES," then we might have made a mistake... it happens. Click here to let us know and we'll take care of it.
If your answer to that question is "NO" or even "MAYBE," well...
- Why was my account disabled?
-
Pretty simple, really. You posted stuff that the Thumb team or community didn't appreciate. Nudity, rude comments, racism, cursing, harassment, excessive creepiness, spam, fakers, underage users... none of it flies here. Ask real questions! Keep it clean; keep it fun; keep it focused on opinions and advice.
- How long am I banned?
-
If this is your first offense, your account will be re-enabled in about 24 hours. You might want to brush up on your etiquette, though, because we have a two-strike policy. Next strike, you're out...
… Unless, of course, we made a mistake. If you'd like your account reviewed, drop us a line.
- What happened to my profile picture/bio?
-
Same rules that apply to questions apply to profiles. Keep 'em clean, or we'll clean 'em for you.
- How do I report a bad user or question?
-
Flag 'em down and let us know they're a problem. Tap the flag icon on questions and user profiles to file a report.
- How can I get the best answers to my questions?
-
Thumb is a living, breathing community of people focused on giving and getting realtime opinions and advice. We want it to be fun and safe, and get you the relevant opinions you're looking for. Here are some tips:
- Ask clean questions seeking honest opinions and advice.
- Use appropriate pictures that relate to your question.
- Make sure your question can be answered with a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down.
- Be real, truthful and honest. Nobody likes a fake.
- Give other people helpful, polite advice. We're all in this together!
- What's with the stars?
-
Get a really helpful opinion or some stellar advice? Give that person a star! Tap the star next to a comment and reward the users that deserve it. Collect enough stars in a category and become a top advisor.
- Who are these Top Advisors?
-
Awarded to the users with the most stars per category, Top Advisors are the A-Team in good advice. Each night, we calculate the best opinion-givers in each category over the last two months. But remember, we only count two month's worth of stars, so protect your rep!
- How do I ask only men, only women, or people in a certain age group?
-
In the Ask screen, click the arrow button next to “Public.” From here, you can target your questions to a specific gender or age group. Check the groups you want to answer your question; ditch the others.
- How do I invite friends?
-
The more the merrier! To get your friends on Thumb, go to the Profile screen, then click on My Friends, then click "Invite New Friends." You can invite friends by e-mail or post an invite to your Facebook wall or Twitter feed. You can also search for friends who are already using Thumb by name or e-mail.
Soon, we'll make it easier to find and invite your friends from your contacts, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
- How do I talk to people?
-
Ask questions and leave comments! Check your results, and you can reply to comments you receive or replies that you get by clicking the conversation bubble. Be helpful, open and honest, and you might meet someone just like you.
- Why do you need my gender and birth date?
-
Entering a correct gender and birth date will allow you to see questions that are relevant to you. It'll also let you ask a relevant subset of the community for their opinions on your questions. When asking a question, you can choose to only let people of a certain gender or age group see your question. If your information isn't accurate, you won't see questions that are relevant to you.
Soon, we'll let you customize your vote stream to only see questions asked by people of chosen age groups. This makes it even more important to fill out your profile information properly.
- How do I reset my password?
