Community Guidelines

Thumb is a tool for giving and receiving opinions and advice in realtime. As a member of our community, you are expected to contribute to this mission in a relevant, polite, honest and helpful way. If we find that you or others are not contributing in such ways—or if you are otherwise not complying with these Community Guidelines, we reserve the right (but do not undertake the obligation) to take down the offending content. As a member of our community, you are responsible to comply with the following Guidelines.

Some General Do’s and Don’ts
Do’s
  • Use Thumb as a way to receive or give opinions on topics of the day or in which you have a personal interest.
  • Remember you’re in public—the information you post in public areas can be viewed by anyone on the Internet. Be judicious about what you display in public about yourself and others.
  • Respect others.
  • Behave ethically.
  • Be honest and sincere.
  • Use good judgment—stay in good taste when discussing any topic.
Don’ts
  • Harass, verbally attack or threaten others.
  • Be hateful.
  • Pretend to be someone you are not or claim false credentials.
  • Be creepy.
  • Post or link to content that is obscene, excessively violent or otherwise objectionable.
  • Use the community for commercial or advertising purposes.
  • Post content that isn’t yours—whether copyrighted or someone’s personal material.
  • Believe everything you read – postings submitted by members may be inaccurate or inappropriate for you. While you should consider the opinions of others, you should always use your own judgment in determining what is right for you.
  • Engage in, link to, or promote illegal activities or content.
  • Post personal information about someone else.
  • Use Thumb as a way to vent against someone or something.
  • Give your login credentials to anyone. You cannot create more than one account and you will be liable for all content posted from your account.
Asking Questions

Asking questions is a powerful and quick way to get real, honest opinions and advice from a large and growing community of individuals. Your questions should always be seeking opinions and advice - and the images you choose to accompany your questions should be relevant to the question. On some topics we have these additional guidelines.

Sexually Explicit Content

We encourage you to ask real, honest questions and seek advice on sexual topics. But we expect that you will stay in good taste. Images and content that are prurient in nature—or said another way, sexually explicit—are strictly prohibited.

Underage Content

Users under the age of 13 are prohibited from using Thumb. We reserve the right to disable any user for suspicion of being underage.

Ask Questions; Don’t Seek Idle Chatter

Thumb is intended to provide you a platform for receiving and giving advice and opinions in real time. While you may use the features within Thumb to communicate privately with friends and other members, the public parts of Thumb are not intended to be used for idle chatter. Statements or comments with no implied question or relevancy, including "I’m bored," "Wanna chat?", asking for "stars," asking people to tell you a secret, asking people to ask you questions, and posting conversations, are prohibited. Posting the same or similar content or image multiple times in a short period of time is also prohibited.

Voting & Commenting

When voting on questions, please remember that your goal is to give helpful opinions and advice. You should be constructive, helpful, considerate and honest. Do not curse excessively or leave hateful or defamatory comments or remarks. Just as you would like quality feedback on the questions you post, you should offer clean and meaningful advice on questions posted by other users.

Profiles

The same rules that apply throughout the rest of the community also apply to your profile as well. Tell people a little about yourself; use a real picture of yourself; be helpful and keep it clean. Filling out your profile with accurate information will introduce you to a whole new community of friends and help you get quality advice. You may not create false accounts or impersonate others.

Reporting Problems

If you see another user causing problems or generally ignoring our community guidelines, please report them to our team immediately by e-mailing us.
